At Oneida Acres we understand the great responsibility that comes with breeding our dogs. We take it seriously by focusing on health, temperament and soundness of the breed.

When a dog has all three attributes it will be well balanced, stable and can successfully do the job it was bred to do as well as other jobs it is capable of doing.

• Health: We screen our dogs before breeding for potential hereditary and genetic diseases.  All test results and certifications performed are available.  Complete physicals are performed by a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) on all puppies.  Initial vaccines and wormings are given at the appropriate age. 

• Temperment: Our puppies are raised in our home to ensure proper socialization and adjustment to their new families.  We temperament test all puppies using "The Puppy Temperament Test".  Watching and handling the puppies daily allows us to see their personalities develop.  This gives us insight on what puppy may best suit your family. 

• Soundness: The definition is free from injury, damage, defect, disease; in good condition; healthy.  When we talk about soundness in dogs we are referring to their movement.  Movement should be effortless with good reach and drive.  Between 6 and 8 weeks of age we are watching how they move and are checking to make sure the angulation of the front and rear legs are correct to produce efficient motion.

We are also concerned about the safety of our dogs; therefore all puppies are micro-chipped before they go to their new homes.

Health and temperament guarantees accompany all our dogs.  We offer full support for everyone who purchases a puppy or adult, including but not limited to training, grooming and boarding.

The versatility of our dogs is something we are proud of; therefore we are available to help with any area of acclamation you may require of your puppy.  This may include therapy work, livestock guardian, obedience, agility, conformation showing, carting, or backpacking.
